About Bio-Rich Green Care
Company History
Jon Greenstone is owner of Bio Rich Green Care in Germantown, Maryland, has over 40 years of landscape, horticulture and agriculture experience. He is a distinguished graduate of the University of Maryland’s Institute of Applied Agriculture. Jon has managed sustainable farms in Brookeville and Germantown Maryland. He served as Superintendent at Reston National Golf Course in charge of all turfgrass and groundskeeping operations. Former work included management of commercial landscapes at prestigious office parks in Gaithersburg and Bethesda. Jon is also an ordained minister in the Lutheran tradition. Jon writes, “Throughout my life, I have sought to create places where beauty can be discovered. Sometimes it is in formal order where we enjoy distinct boundaries, such as when turfgrass edges with plants and flowers of bright colors and forms, other times the emphasis is on the natural setting–where ferns and berry producing shrubs offer cover and food for the birds and wildlife of our region—as nature intended.”
Suitable Landscape Design and Techniques
Bio Rich Green Care emphasis is on creating a Landscape that is tailored for the environmental and soil conditions of each property. We take into consideration the use of Native plants as well as plants beneficial for birds, wildlife and butterfly gardens. Plant Selections are also based on the fact that some wildlife, soil and weather conditions pose challenges to growing certain plants in our region. We use blends of compost and sand for soil modification, Integrated Pest Management to provide the best care for trees and shrubs without harming beneficial insects. We follow cultural and fertilization practices when planting trees, shrubs and grass so the plants will flourish. Bio Rich Green Care is a licensed commercial pesticide application business and uses the safest products as are effective for weed and insect problems. Bio Rich Green Care purchases plant stock from local nurseries. Jon — the owner and chief horticulturalist will provide a free initial consultation and estimate for your new or existing Landscape or Lawn.
